History:

The Irish Channel Neighborhood Association (ICNA) was incorporated in 1974 by a group of Irish Channel residents. After a brief hiatus, the organization reformed in 1995 and is active in all areas of neighborhood development and advocacy.

Mission:

The Irish Channel Neighborhood Association consists of a group of dedicated and concerned neighbors working together with a vision to restore safety and security for all, to respect the diversity of our neighbors, and to work towards a better quality of life for all the residents of the Irish Channel.

Non-Profit Status:

ICNA is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization as recognized by the IRS Tax Code, since 1974.

Membership:

Membership is open to any resident or business located in the Irish Channel. Dues are $15.00 per residence or business and they are collected annually.

Governance:

ICNA is governed by a Board of Directors and Executive Officers. The Board consists of those elected annually by the members of the Association.

Meetings:

Board meetings are held quarterly and are open meetings. General membership meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at 819 First Street (Irish Channel Christian Fellowship), and are open to the public.

Local Historic District Status:

Initiated on February 7, 2002, by a unanimous vote of the city Council.
